Probably one of the questions I get asked the most, is "what should we wear for our family photos?" The number one rule I say, is to be comfortable. If you are a family that wears jeans, then that is what you wear. If you come to your session in clothing that isn't comfortable, and isn't YOU, that is going to come through the camera and reflect in your photos.
The second thing I always say, is you don't have to come all dressed the same. You don't need to be too "matchy", just coordinated. Think about a Pottery Barn Catalog. They will have a cream couch, with brown, aqua, and orange throw pillows. Some pillows will have a pattern, others will be plain. No two pillows are the same, but they all look like they belong together.
The third thing I stress, is don't be afraid of color. Pops of color photograph beautifully and give some life and personality to your images. The pops of color can come from anything. Jewelry, belts, hair accessories, or even a great pair of red shoes!
I love to help pick out clothing. So please keep asking! I would even go shopping with you if I could! From time to time, I will post some inspiration here to help get you on your way! Here is the first What to Wear Guide!
All of these outfits are casual, have fun textures, and the colors are great. Still looking for that pop of color? Add some fun, chunky, yellow bracelets and shoes and you are set!
